INDEPENDENT HOME TECHNOLOGY EDITING
About HomeTechEdit
We help readers choose technology that fits the home they already have—and the people who share it.
A practical home comes first
HomeTechEdit is an independent English-language publication about smart homes, home technology, connected kitchens, cleaning equipment and everyday devices. We begin with a real household moment: the dark entrance when both hands are full, the video call that drops in the upstairs office, or the robot vacuum that cannot reach its dock.
That scene keeps the recommendation honest. Technology earns a place when it removes friction, respects the room and remains understandable to everyone who lives there. More features are not automatically more useful.
How we research
Our guides use current manufacturer specifications, support documentation and other authoritative sources. Each reusable product record includes source links and a last-checked date. When we have not conducted a hands-on test, we say so and base observations on published information rather than pretending otherwise.
- We separate verified product facts from editorial inference.
- We do not invent ratings, benchmarks, warranties, review counts or personal experience.
- We avoid fixed prices unless there is a dependable update process; readers are asked to check current options.
- We explain who should skip a product and what maintenance or subscription cost may remain.
- We update articles when a meaningful compatibility, availability or safety detail changes.
Our editorial standard
A recommendation should answer five questions: What problem does this solve? Who is it for? What must already be true in the home? What is the tradeoff? What happens when the network, account or battery fails? Product marketing can describe a capability; our job is to translate that capability into a buying decision.
Safety, privacy, compatibility and long-term ownership are considered alongside convenience. HomeTechEdit is not a substitute for an electrician, HVAC professional, healthcare professional, security adviser or other qualified specialist.
Commercial independence
Some links may become affiliate links. If a reader buys through a qualifying link, HomeTechEdit may receive a commission at no additional cost to the reader. Affiliate relationships do not determine our conclusions, and the presence or absence of a commission does not change the stated tradeoff. Read the full Affiliate Disclosure.

Specifications change, products are renamed and regional support differs. If you find an error or a source that needs review, email [email protected] or use the contact page. Please include the article, the statement in question and a primary source when available.
